The red palm weevil is an invasive beetle. Its larvae feed on the inside of the palm and weaken it for months, often without anyone noticing. It mainly affects Canary Island date palms and date palms. Early detection can make the difference between saving the palm and having to remove it.

We combine two techniques to tackle the pest from inside and outside the palm.
We inject the plant protection product directly into the palm's vascular system. It travels with the sap and works from the inside.
We also treat the crown and other key areas to kill adult beetles and add an extra layer of protection on the outside.
That way the palm has protection in its vascular system all year round to fight off the weevil. Preventing an infestation is far easier than saving an affected palm.

Sometimes, but not always. It depends on how much internal damage the larvae have done, which is hard to see from the outside. If necessary, we carry out palm surgery to carefully cut away the damaged parts, then apply endotherapy and foliar spray. To be honest with you: with an active infestation we can't guarantee 100% that the palm will survive.
Three times a year: a full treatment (endotherapy and foliar spray) in spring and autumn, and foliar spray in summer.
Yes. If the pest becomes active again shortly after a preventive treatment, we treat again, either free of charge or for a share of the cost to cover expenses, depending on the case.
With endotherapy the product goes inside the palm, so nothing is sprayed into the air. We'll explain any specific precautions for each treatment.
As a guide, a full endotherapy and foliar spray treatment costs around €100 per palm in the Axarquía. For larger numbers of palms we adjust the price, and travel costs are added outside the Axarquía. The first visit is free.
